| The Soviet Foxtrot -Class Hunter Killer Submarine SCORPION, designated B-427, was built in Leningrad, Russia, in 1972, served the Soviets during the Cold War period, especially during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Scorpion is a diesel-electric boat, 300 feet long, 2000 tons displacement, speed 16 knots, carried 6 bow torpedo tubes and 4 aft. She carried no guns nor missiles.
Scorpion is now deactivated, berthed in Los Angeles, California adjacent to RMS Queen Mary, and may be inspected by the public. I took the following photos in March, 2002, and include them here for your pleasure!
